Littering is one of the most serious environmental problems that our cities have to deal with nowadays. What can we do, then, to reduce the amount of rubbish in our streets and parks? 2. To begin with, it is important to fine people who litter. If people know that they will have to pay a fine if they drop rubbish, they will stop doing it. The result would be much cleaner public places. 3. Another solution would be to get young people involved in clean-up programmes. This means students could help clean their local parks. Consequently, they will become more interested in keeping their neighbourhoods tidy and will respect the environment more. 4. Finally, it would be a good idea to set up more recycling schemes in every area. If this was done, household rubbish would be put to good use and the total amount of garbage would be greatly reduced. 5. To sum up, there are many ways to solve the problem of litter. Applying these ideas would result in a much cleaner and healthier environment for everyone in our country.
